Gourlay Leads Home Interest In Perth

In his first World Bowls Tour event since being appointed Scottish Head Coach, David Gourlay delighted the local crowd at the Dewars Centre in Perth when he beat South African qualifier Barry Maitland-Stuart to reach the second round of the Co-operative Funeralcare Scottish International Open.

Success for the fourth time at the Potters Holidays World Indoor Singles Championship in January has led to Scotland's Paul Foster retaining the World Bowls Tour world number one ranking, according the list for the 2011/12 season announced by the WBT.

Anderson Ousts Bond In Swansea Swansong

In a dramatic first round encounter on the opening day of action in the Co-operative Funeralcare Welsh Grand Prix, Scottish qualifier Stewart Anderson upset England's No8 seed Ian Bond in the final World Bowls Tour ranking event of the season in a defeat which will see the popular 'Devon Destroyer' out of next season's WBT world top 16.

Stewart Anderson's hopes of reaching the final of the Potters Holidays World Indoor Singles Championship for the second year in a row were dashed today when the young Scot fell at the first hurdle to second-seeded compatriot Paul Foster in the first round of the premier World Bowls Tour event in Norfolk.

Local hero Mervyn King emerged as the star of the night when he picked up two of the top awards at the 2010 World Bowls Tour Awards at Potters Leisure Resort in Norfolk.
