England's Les Gillett, a wildcard entry in the Co-operative Funeralcare Scottish International Open, produced the biggest upset on the last day of first round action in the first World Bowls Tour event of the season at the Dewars Centre in Perth when he defeated legendary Scot Alex Marshall.

Foster Tested In Swansea Opener

Scotland's new world champion Paul Foster was given a stern test in the first round of the Co-operative Funeralcare Welsh Grand Prix before overcoming Australian qualifier Matt Mitchell to claim his place in the last 16 of the final World Bowls Tour ranking event of the season in Swansea.

A week after winning a fourth world title in Norfolk, Scotland's Paul Foster will be bidding to pick up a second World Bowls Tour trophy in Wales when he competes in the 2011 Co-operative Funeralcare Welsh Grand Prix in Swansea.

After predicting the score-line to BBC TV viewers minutes before the match, second seed Paul Foster duly won the first set and tied the second to beat fellow Scot Alex Marshall in today's final of the Potters Holidays World Indoor Singles Championship to win the premier World Bowls Tour title in Norfolk for the fourth time.

Alex Marshall and Paul Foster, two Scots with eight world singles titles between them, produced stunning winning bowls with do-or-die final tie-break deliveries in today's quarter-finals of the Potters Holidays World Indoor Singles Championship to earn places in the semi-finals of the premier World Bowls Tour event in Norfolk.
