Harlow Heads Provisional World Rankings

A runner-up finish in last week’s Co-operative Funeralcare Scottish International Open in Perth has taken England’s Greg Harlow to the top of the first provisional World Bowls Tour world rankings for next season.

English qualifier Robert Paxton continued his stunning run in the Co-operative Funeralcare Scottish International Open when he defeated defending champion Mervyn King in straight sets at Dewars Centre in Perth today to reach the final of a World Bowls Tour event for the first time.

Gillett Gets Marshall In Perth Upset

England's Les Gillett, a wildcard entry in the Co-operative Funeralcare Scottish International Open, produced the biggest upset on the last day of first round action in the first World Bowls Tour event of the season at the Dewars Centre in Perth when he defeated legendary Scot Alex Marshall.

Success for the fourth time at the Potters Holidays World Indoor Singles Championship in January has led to Scotland's Paul Foster retaining the World Bowls Tour world number one ranking, according the list for the 2011/12 season announced by the WBT.

Top Two Seeds Through To Potters Quarter-Finals

Paul Foster and Greg Harlow, the top two players in the World Bowls Tour world rankings, secured their places in the quarter-finals of the Potters Holidays World Indoor Singles Championship after contrasting displays in today's second round at Potters Leisure Resort in Norfolk.

A star performance by Guernsey's Alison Merrien in today's first day of action in the Potters Holidays World Indoor Mixed Matchplay Championship led to the downfall of reigning champions Carol Ashby & Alex Marshall.

Local wild card player Tim Stone produced a major upset in today's second day of first round action in the Potters Holidays World Indoor Singles Championship when he overturned Scotland's former world champion David Gourlay to reach the last 16 of the premier World Bowls Tour event in Norfolk for the first time.

Local hero Mervyn King emerged as the star of the night when he picked up two of the top awards at the 2010 World Bowls Tour Awards at Potters Leisure Resort in Norfolk.
